Aloha and WElcome!

Thank you for visiting my website!  It is an honor to share my work with others, and I hope you enjoy.

I have been passionate about the arts since a very young age.  Physical proof of my early work includes stacks of drawings of bears flying kites, watercolor paintings of penguins, a hideous collection of clay sculptures, even a book of poetry (published in my third grade teacher's thesis, so perhaps that could be considered an early success!).  Photography always intrigued me, and I toted a camera around faithfully on every family vacation, documenting our travels. It was not until after high school, when I began traveling abroad that I really developed a passion for attempting to capture the essence of a place and a moment in a photo.  Photography as a career still felt out of reach, until one day my husband bought me a camera that I felt was "too expensive" and I felt obligated to learn to properly operate it.  I have not put the camera down since, and I owe my success to him for recognizing and encouraging my dream.

While I have photographed nearly every subject imaginable, being a freelance photojournalist has been very rewarding.  I have been privileged to meet a wide variety of interesting people and photograph unique subjects.  From ziplining through the treetops, camera in hand, riding in a kayak through historic flumes, wading through knee deep cloud forest muck, or watching a new and exciting piece of technology be tested on the summit of Mauna Kea, every day is a new and exciting adventure.

Beyond news, I also enjoy capturing small events and environmental portraiture in a relaxed environment.  Photography is fun, and being photographed should be too!  I am particularly passionate about animals and nature, so toss a dog into our shoot and I couldn't be happier!  In my spare time I love exploring Hawaii and beyond, creating fine art of our beautiful natural surroundings.
